Captain of Industry's 4.3 update lets mines share an ore-sorting site instead of processing their loads separately. The update is out now, according to MaFi Games' November 2 release notes.
Earlier versions let trucks carry mixed loads, but each mine still needed a sorting plant. Players then had to move the separated rock, dirt and ore onward. MaFi's development diary describes that extra handling as the problem it wanted to remove.
Mixed material can now travel on belts and trains, sit in storage and pass through stackers for dumping. A sorting plant can pull out a chosen ore and send the rest onward unsorted. That makes a shared facility an option, while earthmoving jobs can move unwanted material without sorting it first.
Recycling also keeps track of what each load was made from. Scrap output now follows that load, rather than an average drawn from the whole factory.
The update also gives modders a way to put factory information in a web browser. Its new web API is a connection that other software can use to read game data or send commands.
Built-in options include a demo dashboard, a screenshot of the current view, and product statistics and history. The API also accepts game commands, with cheat commands restricted to sandbox games. Reading data and sending commands from other websites are off by default.
MaFi says the server runs locally and cannot be reached from the public internet. The developer’s earlier diary pictured browser tools as a second screen for dashboards, alerts and notes.
Some mods will need updates for 4.3. If those changes prevent a save from loading, MaFi names the v0-8-7d-legacy Steam branch as a fallback. It also describes exporting a recovery save for loading in 4.3 without unsupported mods.
