Lightyear Frontier released version 1.0 on November 4 for PC on Steam and Xbox Series X|S. The update adds a story ending, two new areas and earlier access to farm automation.
Developer FRAME BREAK also plans at least one more large update, according to the launch post. Its October 26 FAQ had left major new content undecided. The studio has yet to say what the next update will contain or when it will arrive.
Players can keep farms from the current version of the game. The FAQ says those saves work with 1.0, including its new achievements. A fresh start is optional, with the developer recommending it for the revised early progression.
The main automation change lets storage feed crafting stations directly through pipes. It takes over the job of Automators, the old link in production chains. The September 11 automation preview says saves that already have Automators keep them and can build more. New farms will unlock Automation Pipes instead.
Automation now starts at Milestone 4. Storage filters control which resources can enter each container, and a crafting station can cycle through up to three recipes.
One repair affects existing Water Reservoir setups. FRAME BREAK moved the reservoir's pipe outlet to fix a building problem. Its patch notes say pipes already connected to that outlet must be rebuilt before they will work again.
Farms from before the June 2025 Shifting Gears update remain a separate case. That update required a new save for its new world. Steam's Legacy branch holds older farms, and 1.0 does not update that branch.
The new Sandswept Highlands and Hollow Marsh are open from the start of the game, though the developer designed them for late-game players. The FAQ puts the world expansion at roughly 40%. Players who finished the previous Automation Update can head straight into the new endgame.
